JUMBO LOANS Jumbo Loans are simply loans in excess of $417,000 which throws them outside Conforming guidelines. Almost all Conforming Lenders make Jumbo Loans available. Credit and Income requirements are basically the same as for Conforming loans, with the interest rates normally running 1/4 to 1/2 percentage point higher. In the case of a loan amount which exceeds $417 ,000 by a relatively small amount, one of two options might be considered: 1. A 2nd mortgage or other arrangement to bring the First Mortgage amount down to $417,000. 2. The 103% Special loan, which is available up to $417,000.
